Portable Field Telephone Germany, №1326, 1925 A Field telephone is a kind of telephone designed for use in special circumstances requiring operational mobility. It was primarily designed for communication during battle. The first field telephone was used by the Germans during World War I. It replaced the old flag system of communication and the telegraph. The field telephone was constructed in a rectangular casing comprising of an electronic audio-signal amplifier, a handset with microphone button, magneto calling and mechanical induction generator (modern devices use electronic generators).
