Morse System Telegraph

Morse System Telegraph
Hasler Switzerland, 1850 y.

Morse System Telegraph «Hasler».Switzerland. 1850 One of the first apparatuses to receive Morse Code messages. Made by the Hasler Company (which later began producing telephones). Ink was not required in the device, rather a needle was used to scratch out characters on paper. Used as a military telegraph. The first test telegraph line was put into operation in 1859 between St. Gallen and Appenzell. Unfortunately the technology proved unsuitable for emergencies due to its slow performance. Despite telegraph users’ protests, this apparatus was soon decommissioned.
